Whether you are preparing for the commencement of Queensland’s Reportable Conduct Scheme or looking to strengthen your existing investigation capability, our training provides practical tools, frameworks and guidance that participants can immediately apply in their roles.

Recognise. Respond. Report.

Level 1 — Incident Response

This introductory program helps staff understand how to recognise, report and respond safely and appropriately when concerns arise involving children and young people.

Participants will gain an understanding of Queensland’s Reportable Conduct Scheme, immediate safeguarding actions, reporting pathways and documentation requirements, ensuring they can respond confidently and appropriately when concerns are identified.

Who should attend?
Frontline staff, volunteers, Reception staff, casual workers and anyone who may receive, observe or respond to concerns involving children.

3.5–4 hours (two live sessions plus self-paced pre-work)

Building Practical Investigation Skills

Level 2 — Basic Investigations

This program equips participants with the knowledge and confidence to undertake fair, timely and child-centred investigations into allegations and concerns in accordance with Queensland’s Reportable Conduct Scheme.

Participants will learn how to plan investigations, gather and analyse evidence, conduct interviews, apply procedural fairness, assess findings and prepare investigation reports.

Who should attend?
Supervisors, Managers, HR Professionals, Child Safety Officers, Welfare Officers, Nominated Investigators and Designated Officers.

Managing Complex Matters With Confidence

Level 3 — Advanced Investigations and Case Management

Designed for experienced investigators and organisational leaders, this advanced program explores complex investigations, multi-party allegations, case management, legal risk, evidence analysis and engagement with statutory authorities.

Participants will strengthen their ability to manage sensitive and high-risk matters while maintaining quality, integrity, procedural fairness and compliance with Queensland’s Reportable Conduct Scheme requirements.

Who should attend?
Senior Investigators, HR leaders, Executive Leadership teams, Legal Advisors and Complex Case Managers.

12–14 hours (six live modules, pre-work and capstone assessment)

Bryan Cook & Renee Walker

Bryan Cook, Managing Director and Principal Investigator at Ashdale, brings more than 25 years of experience in investigations, complaint management and conflict resolution. His practical and engaging approach helps participants build confidence in responding to complex and sensitive matters.

Renee Walker is a Vulnerable Persons Investigation Consultant and former Queensland Police Service Detective with specialist experience in child protection investigations, safeguarding, regulatory compliance and reportable conduct matters. She has led investigations across law enforcement and government and brings extensive expertise in trauma-informed practice and responding to allegations involving children and vulnerable people.

Together, Bryan and Renee combine real-world investigative experience with practical guidance to help participants conduct fair, thorough and procedurally sound investigations.

Managing Unreasonable Complainant Conduct (MUCC)

Unreasonable Complainant Conduct (UCC) can have a serious impact on staff wellbeing and organisational resources. This session provides teams with tools to reduce the risk of UCC and respond appropriately when it arises.

  • Strategies to prevent UCC from developing
  • How to respond safely and effectively when UCC occurs
